All steel wires of steel wire ropes in strands are single-twisted. The lay length of steel wires in every layers is same ( parallel system of twist ) , and the steel wires in the same layers and among layers and layers are banded together tightly and touch by the way of threadiness.
The structure characteristics of linear contact lay wire rope ( equal lay ):
1、The helix of all steel wire in the linear contact lay wire rope is parallel to each other and don’t intervein. The lay length of steel wires in every layers is same, and the twist angles of steel wires in every layers are different.
2、The steel wires of adjacent layers are inlaid into the trench with each other.
3、The diameters of the steel wires in every layers are unequal, but exist some proportional relationship.
When linear contact lay wire ropes bear force, the contact stress among steel wires is largely smaller than the point contact lay wire rope. As a consequence, the working lives of linear contact lay wire ropes are longer than the point contact lay wire rope, and often are once to twice over the point contact lay wire rope.
