The Classification Of The Steel Wire Rope

The steel wire rope is twisted around a steel rope core( or fiber rope core) by several strands. The strands which used to twist steel wire rope are diverse, such as circular, triangular, or elliptic. The construction of the strand is decided by fatigue resistance which required.


Then the steel wire rope can be divided into different part by different standard.


When classified by the way of twisting, there are four subclasses. Right interaction twist which can be symbolized as ZS, left interaction twist which can be symbolized as SN, right-hand lang-lay twist which can be symbolized as ZZ, left-hand lang-lay twist which can be symbolized as SS.


Besides, according to the shape of the section, it can be divided into round strand wire ropes, oval strand wire ropes, triangular strand ropes, flat strand wire ropes, and other abnormal shape wire ropes.


Furthermore, by the purpose of the steel wire rope, there are steel wire rope to support, wire rope to bear the weight, wire rope for traction, wire rope for binding, wire rope for aviation.


In addition, there are ungalvanized wire rope and galvanized wire rope, which are divided by steel wire surface condition. And the galvanized wire rope contain hot galvanizing and electronic galvanizing. The level of the thickness of the zinc coating has A( thick galvanized), B( middle thick galvanized), and AB( thin galvanized).


Last determining criterion is the contact status of the steel wire of the strand in the steel wire rope. Thus there are point contact steel wire rope, line contact steel wire rope, point-line contact steel wire rope, and surface contact steel wire rope which is called pressure real stock steel wire rope.
